As I was watching Bobby Jindals speech last night in response to the Presidents speech I was thinking to myself:
Hmmm....where have I seen this guy before? ..I know it wasn't that long ago....actually I think it was ONLY two days ago. Boy, does he sure seem different.
Let me offer some evidence below the fold.
First, let's take a look at part of Jindal's performance from Meeth the Press this past Sunday (2/22/09)
Next, even though I'm sure most of you dont need to watch again to remind yourself of the performance, is Gov. Jindal giving the Republican response to Pres. Obama's un-state of the union.
Now let's set aside our ideological differences with the GOP, and how much we disagree with their public policy (as if they even know what they believe). The first thing that came to my mind is who in the hell does the GOP keep paying to coach these back benchers of theirs? Palin...Steele...Jindal. My point is that I've heard these people speak before the RNC gets their slimy fingers on them and they really aren't as evil, dumb, or patronizing as they always end up sounding like.
So please, tell me, what is it?! The GOP has these backbenchers that have the potential to actually win independent voters and broaden the republican base but it seems to me that as soon as the RNC gets ahold of these people and starts pushing them as a national candidate they turn into a different person.
Part of me thinks that the RNC has become the overlord that the DLC once seemed to be. If there is any conservative politician that has the potential to become a national candidate then the RNC is going to make that candidate THEE generic RNC republican. I guess that way there are no suprises and the inner party machinery never has to be forced into retooling. It's sickening. Thank the cosmo's I'm not a republican.
Oh, and below is another video of Jindal, also on MTP (8/17/2008). Personally I think if the whole of Jindal's speech was exactly what he said in the first video (MTP 2/22/09) he would be receiving accolades from independents and conservatives alike.
Just wanted to add something. There were numerous directions to take this kind of diary and I chose the most simplest because of personal time constraints.
