Three states allow gay marriage. First was Mass., second was California, then there was Connecticut.
Many good lefties are aware of the heated battle over Prop 8, gay marriage in California, but many aren't away of what is happening in Connecticut with Question 1.
Since we've seen that the religious right will stop at nothing to continue marriage discrimination one should assume that they will attack Gay Marriage in CT or Mass. next..well, they already are.
A partnership of political and religious groups have formed the "Connecticut Constitutional Convention Campaign". The CCCC is supported by Republican Gov Jodi Rell, The Family Institute of Connecticut, the National Taxpayers Union, Federation of Connecticut Taxpayer Org., The Green Party of CT, and the CT Catholic Conference. These groups are not hiding what they're motive is (i know, ct green party) and by reading they're names I'm sure it'll make sense to you too. A constitutional convention supported by Taxpayer Orgs., Religious Orgs., and Republicans slowly losing any grip of control in this dark blue Constitution State.
For once we have a chance to stop marriage discrimination by cutting it off at the pass as well as protect taxation in CT.
More of my first Diary after the jump.
